Independent Educational Psychologist, Mother of Two Children
I have sixteen years of experience in education and in working with children and young people. This includes; six years teaching experience, being a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), running my own business and ten years as a practising Educational Psychologist (EP). I have worked as an EP for Swindon Local Authority and as a Locum EP for Gloucestershire Educational Psychology Service.
I am currently working as an Independent Educational Psychologist mainly in the South West and Cotswold Region.
My Experience as an EP
Assessing Special Educational Needs in children, young people (0-25 years) and in adults, working with families, schools and other professionals to problem solve ways forward. During my time as a Local Authority EP I have had responsibility for my own area of schools and nurseries, experiencing 30 different primary schools and six different secondary schools, including a specialist secondary provision for BESD.
I have also:
• Researched and written borough guidelines for supporting pupils returning to school after a Traumatic Brain Injury and guidelines for supporting children and young people with Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD)
• Was Borough lead for delivering Restorative Justice Training, working with multi-agencies in its role out plan
• Held a specialist role for BESD and specialism in Early Years
I am experienced in a range of up-to-date assessment techniques and in offering advice and support for a range of learning, behavioural or emotional difficulties, including assessment and advice for access arrangements and the identification of Specific Learning Difficulties including Dyslexia. I am registered with the HCPC and take pride in keeping my professional development up to date.
